Now that Bluey’s moved on, I am very confused. Politics has never been my strong point. What issues to vote on and what each party’s policies actually mean are largely lost on me. I don’t listen to ABC radio and I don’t tend to read the political pages of The Mercury.
But at least I knew I was going to vote for Will Hodgman (right) in the next state election. Because the boy is seriously cute. The son of Australia’s longest-serving politician still living, young Will cuts a fine figure in suit and tie, shorts and polo and even stubbies and singlet. I know a little about the Liberal agenda and nothing in there seriously concerns me personally, but when it came to voting on booty alone, it was always cut-and-dried when you would showcase a photo of Will Hodgman against ex-Premier Paul Lennon.
But Lennon had to quit didn’t he. He just had to go and cause a rift in my (rather immature) political thinking. Because David Bartlett looks seriously good in a suit. He’s a little short for my liking, but he doesn’t look half bad at all. And he’s an intelligent, articulate and well-informed man who, just like Hodgman, wouldn’t look out of place in the latest Harris Scarfe catalogue showing off the Slazenger tracksuit specials.
As you can tell, I am not, in any way a political person. I leave that to more concerned folk who spend their time doing far more constructive work than I. But now I am developing a keen interest in the Tasmanian political landscape. And it has nothing to do with the Pulp Mill or the proposed marina in Ralph’s Bay. I am ashamed to admit that it’s all about the booty.
