Two Sydney lesbians have been accused of kidnap after allegedly removing their children from the care of NSW Department of Community Services carers.

The women had their children, aged three and five, removed from their care following a drug-related assault at a home in Waterloo in 2008, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The children were taken into care with both women agreeing not to have unsupervised visits, according to police.

It is alleged the children were collected from their carer in October last year, supposedly to attend a friend’s birthday party, but the women failed to return the children to care.

Police say the children were put on a plane to Port Macquarie on the New South Wales’ north coast and have since been moved around NSW and Queensland.

One of the women was arrested on December 8 and charged with abducting the three year old, while the second woman was arrested on New Year’s Eve in Waterloo and charged with abducting the five year old.

Neither woman has revealed the children’s whereabouts and attempts by a Community Services worker to find them have so far proved fruitless.
