NEIL SEDAKA [UMA]
It takes all sorts to make up the gay world, and for that we’re glad. For the unknowing (and the unconverted), Neil Sedaka is a legendary singer/songwriter of the 60s and the 70s who created feelgood pop hits for himself, but also for many others (think Burt Bacharach with frosting).
Although you may scratch your head in dismay, I bet the songs ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’, ‘Breaking Up is Hard to Do’, ‘Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen’, ‘Oh Carol’ and ‘Amarillo’ would ring distant bells lodged deep in the weddings, parties and the daggiest Bar Mitzvahs part of your pop subconscious. All appear here on this double compilation (pieced together by the good man himself), along with a selection of brand new tracks. The show goes on for the retro Sedaka connoisseur.
