In a world of overexposed non-talent, just-add-water celebrity and ego-popping singing (and dancing) competitions, it’s often those that make the least noise that make the best noise. Modern soul legend Guru is such a star, by name and by nature.
He’s been entertaining groove aficionados with his laidback fusion of hip-hop and soul for close to 15 years, and has collaborated with some of the great vocalists of the modern era. Imagine his scratchy turntable antics creating the beats for Ronnie Jordan & Dee C. Lee, N'Dea Davenport, Courtney Pine and Carleen Anderson, Chaka Khan and Branford Marsalis, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone and Donald Byrd.
