It’s the movie that’s stopped the Western pop cultural world in its tracks. SATC has been a guilty pleasure of gay folk and their straight sisters since queer producer Darren Star first put the series together for cable TV in the US. The four stars were everything we wanted to be: rich, stylish and attractive, but their appeal was tempered with a nasty case of loneliness, desperation and failure.
Their instability is reflected in this rather good soundtrack for the new movie. Featuring sumptuous ballads from Nina Simone, Morningwood, The Bird & The Bee and India.Arie, and more energetic numbers from Jennifer Hudson, Fergie and Duffy, this album will be a best-seller once word gets around.
