J AKOB DYLAN [SONY BMG]
As lead singer of The Wallflowers, Jakob Dylan proved himself as someone who is more than just the son of Bob. Certainly he had big shoes to fill; the mere challenge of stepping into them says a lot about this grungy boy’s tenacity.
Seeing Things is a solo acoustic effort, stripped bare of the band, leaving Jakob free to explore his life, passions, challenges, essentials and everyday simplicity. Produced by Rick Rubin, who was responsible for Johnny Cash’s unplugged albums, there’s a manly tenderness to these songs that is somehow comforting, reassuring and most importantly, grounding. I mean, who can argue with the attraction of the morning sun lighting the back porch scented by the sweet aroma of an apple pie baking?
