VARIOUS [UMA]
What better way to enjoy a long weekend in the gorgeous winter sunshine than with a collection of the mellowest songs on Earth? Whereas CDs in a similar chilled vein continue to drag out the same over-played and therefore dull recordings, Relax is fresh, exciting and stand-outish. Clearly compiled by persons unknown but with a great love of undiscovered and/or under-appreciated slo-groove, Relax is one chill-out CD worth the monetary outlay.
It seems natural that The Velvet Underground would sit so naturally between Amy Winehouse and Groove Armada, yet it took an inspired mind to think it. The same goes for Hot Chip back-to-back with Primal Scream and Zero 7, or Ian Brown and Goldfrapp bookending ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ from The Orb.
Relax is better than sucking on a big scoobie and not half as bad for your health.
