The anticipation of having Xstina in fantabulous Melbourne was almost too much to handle for many a gay fan. Then, dang it, she went and got herself knocked up and cancelled the tour. How very dare you?
So this live and Down Under DVD is a mini compromise, and a hint of what it was we all missed out on
Filmed in Adelaide (yes, that bloody ‘backwater’), Christina and her troupe of dancers deliver a 1940s-inspired sideshow of peacock strutting and jumping jive. Most of the famous hits appear, though in a reinterpreted format that could displeasure some hardcores. There’s no sign of that baby bump, but after watching Miss A reach those vein-popping notes it’s no wonder she didn’t wanna stress out her foetus.
