Book launch
Fuller's Bookshop
June 12
The sad thing is, it's not over yet.
Even though Luddite Lennon has now left the building, it still looks as though
his cash cow mill will go ahead, which makes the launch of Greg Buckman's new
book, Tasmania's Wilderness Battles all the more poignant, and important.
Tasmania's Wilderness Battles is
the story of the seemingly never-ending war between conservationists and
business and industry over the future of the island state's precious wilderness
areas. From the struggle to save Lake Pedder and the Franklin River, to the
violent protests at Farmhouse Creek, to the current battle over the Gunn's pulp
mill in the Tamar Valley, “Tasmania's Wilderness Battles” is a comprehensive
insight into the history of environmental activism in Tasmania.
Its author, Greg Buckman, has been there for many of these battles, and has
written four books about Tasmania's environment and activist issues. He will be
talking about his experiences, and his new book, at Fuller's Bookshop on
Thursday, 12 June, at 6pm. This is an event which should not be missed, and a
book that should not be overlooked, for all those who care about Tasmania's
beautiful, yet fragile, wilderness.
